Here’s what I’ve been working on…
Director – Donald Barthelme Humors You
I adored working on this show, which I devised and developed in the Mercury Store Directing Lab this winter. Based on five short stories by one of my favorite humor writers, Barthelme was described by our review in the Brooklyn Rail as “goofy and rigorous but never self-serious.” You can read more about the show here.
Playwright – NPC Finalist
I’m delighted to share that my play Boys’ Club (No Girls Aloud) was selected as a Finalist for the 2025 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. Woohoo!
Director – EXES: The Musical
I loved directing EXES: The Musical for its New York debut at the NYC Fringe Festival! EXES is a pop-punk one-woman show about unpacking, taking down, and getting over all those dudes who filled up diary pages but didn’t make the cut in real life. You can read more about the show here.
A little bit about me…

I’m a New York-based theater director, producer, and playwright. In my work, I seek to capture the weird and the whimsical, the humor and the pathos of ordinary life. My favorite plays to work on are those that paint a vibrant portrait of a specific community, revel in a sense of spectacle, and treat magic as everyday and the everyday as magical.
I’ve worked with large theater institutions, smaller ensembles, and freelance artists, including 600 HIGHWAYMEN, Atlantic Theater Company, Clubbed Thumb, Mercury Store, Moxie Arts, New Georges, Talking Band, The 24 Hour Plays, The Associates Theater Ensemble, and Williamstown Theatre Festival. With Julia Greer, I co-run The Hearth, a theater company dedicated to supporting the work of emerging artists of underrepresented genders.
I’m very proud to have received a New York State Assembly Citation for my contributions to arts activism.
I invite you to read more and engage with my work across the site, and please don’t hesitate to reach out here. I’m always looking to connect with other artists, theater lovers, and potential collaborators.
With gratitude,
Olivia
